Townsville Airport is Spreading the Love on Valentine's Day
Townsville Airport is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day by giving local groups a chance to share in $50,000 of grants, with the launch of Queensland Airports Limited 2023 Community Benefit Fund.
Since the fund was launched in 2016, it’s provided over $200,000 in funding to local groups within the communities Queensland Airports Limited supports, across Townsville, Mount Isa, Longreachand on the Gold Coast.
Now in its fifth year, it’s focused broadly on the categories of health and wellbeing, safety, education, environment and sustainability, arts and culture, indigenous affairs, and other community benefit initiatives.
Queensland Airports Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said the initiative, which was paused for three years during the pandemic, allows the airport to play more of a role in advancing theregion it supports.
“The Community Benefit Fund is something we’re really proud of, it allows us to support grassroots initiatives and local groups who may not have the resourcing to compete for corporate sponsorship,” she said.
“Grants are typically $1,000 per initiative; however, each application will be assessed on a case-by case basis.”
“The categories for this are far-reaching – applications could be for a sporting club in need of new equipment, a community group organising an event, or a volunteer organisation looking for funding to support health or safety initiatives such as a fun-run or crime prevention,” Ms Charlton said.
Further information on eligibility and the application process can be found on the Townsville Airport website.
Applications close on Tuesday 14 March 2023.
