Townsville’s leading tourism and events operators will be celebrated at the 2019 North Queensland Tourism and Events Awards in October, with a record number of nominations received.

Hosted by Townsville Enterprise and supported by Townsville Airport as a major partner, the event was established to recognise and foster excellence within North Queensland’s tourism industry.

The awards allows the industry to recognise the people, places, organisations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer superior tourism experiences for visitors in the Townsville North Queensland region.

Townsville Airport Chief Operating Officer Kevin Gill said it was important to support and encourage local tourism operators.

“Tourism is more than an industry to Townsville, it’s a force of change,” he said.

“The awards recognise the businesses delivering exceptional experiences to visitors to our stunning region.

“We have supported the event for 12 years, and we are pleased to be back on board this year and look forward to celebrating the achievements of our industry at the awards in October.”

Nominations for the awards closed on July 31, with a record number submitted. Judging will take place during September, with the winners to be announced at the awards ceremony and gala evening on Friday, 18 October 2019 at Rydges Southbank Townsville.
